Marlie Meuleners Fine Art Photography

Bio

I have always had a keen interest in photography and over the years I got to the point where I realized that I wanted to give my photos its own identity. The proces to find out my particular interests has taken more time. What followed was a lot of research, image analysis and heavily experimenting.

The direct approach and the often dark stylized works frequently create a sense of discomfort and abstraction. Whether it concerns my studio work such as portraits and still lifes or abandoned places and the nature outside.

Action and tranquility, which may seem to be opposed to each other, constantly merge and overlap in my photos. Those two polar opposites represent conceptual directions that go back to different art movements such as surrealism.

Using these estranging effects is a conscious choice to create confusion, it forces to focus more intense. It is not about reality or what is in front of the camera, but all about the expression of a message, an idea or emotion. I don’t intend to give answers to your questions but to create room for interpretation and identification.
